The Art Box - Episode 5 - Meet Rachelle Knight

Episode 5: Meet Rachelle Knight

Rachelle is a member of the board of directors for the Virgin Valley Artists' Association, co-webmaster of the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery website and is a co-host of the Art Box podcast. She has been a member of the VVAA for 8 years and her work can be seen in the monthly competitions.

Her artwork can also be seen around Mesquite on several electrical boxes.

Rachelle was born and raised in Salt Lake City.  She has a degree in forest biology from Utah State.  She worked as a wildfire firefighter for the USDA Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management and as a botanist for the Forest Service.  She has a second degree in computer science and worked as a software engineer for the rest of her career, before retiring to pursue art fulltime.

She splits her time between Salt Lake and Mesquite where she has her studio.  She is married with two teenage boys and 2 Australian Shepherds.  She loves hiking, bird watching, reading, gardening and volunteering.

Rachelle loves bright, bold colors and her artwork is usually filled with flowers, birds and suns.  She hopes her work brightens even tiny moments when seen on a busy street or hanging on a wall.  She is a true hippy-girl at heart and is inspired by creatures who are free.  In her future works, she hopes to portray a spirit of bohemian wanderlust and a sense of freedom to explore.
